RS Berkane and Orlando Pirates are the poster for the CAF Cup final, scheduled for May 20, in Nigeria, at the Goodwill-Akpabio international stadium. If the Moroccans relied on a good attack to overthrow TP Mazembe, the South Africans displayed good defensive solidity in their two games.
The RS Berkane has multiplied the attacks
The RS Berkane was spectacular at home. After conceding the equalizer (11th) a minute after opening the scoring (10th), the Moroccans did not panic. They confiscated the ball with 66% possession and 324 completed passes. Dominating at all levels, the Berkanois multiplied the assaults in the opposing camp, striking on goal 19 times including 6 on target. Not to mention the 100 attacks carried out, 84 of which were dangerous. That's not all, the partners of Burkinabè Issoufa Dayo, beaten in the first leg in DR Congo (0-1), wanted to play this final of the CAF Cup. Their constant pressure on the opponent allows them to obtain 8 corners and 12 free kicks. This will eventually pay off as TP Mazembe sinks in the last 10 minutes taking three goals .
Orlando solid behind in two games
Despite the home defeat (1-0) , Orlando Pirates nevertheless qualified for the CAFCup final ahead of Al Ahly Tripoli. The South Africans managed to win 2-0 away from home. Eager to reverse the trend, the Libyans were masters of possession (55% against 45%). But the Pirates were dominating on dangerous attacks (75 against 69).
If the Libyans pushed until the 89th minute to score, it was because Orlando was solid behind. Of the two matches, the South African team conceded only one goal. His defense certainly gave way in the last minutes of the match but it was solid throughout the double confrontation.
