Futsal World Cup: VAR comes into play

The VAR will be used at the next Futsal World Cup scheduled for September 13 to October 3, in Lithuania

After eleven-a-side football, VAR made its debut in futsal. This technology will be used at the next World Cup in Lithuania (September 13 - October 3, 2021). The International Football Federation (FIFA) therefore decides to apply it.

"The system will include a video technician and a screen placed at the edge of the field, on which the referees will be able to view specific images", explains the world body. “ The referees and participating teams will thus be able to benefit from the use of video in four specific situations. In this case a scored or unmarked goal, a penalty, a direct red card and a potential case of a mistaken identity , ” adds FIFA.

Three African selections will participate in the competition. These are Morocco, double champion of Africa, Egypt and also Angola.
