The French Stéphanie Frappart will officiate in the opening match of the Euro, Turkey-Italy, this Friday, June 11 (19h UTC) . She will, in fact, be the fourth referee of the match which will be led by the Dutchman Danny Makkelie .
Frappart will be on the sidelines and could step in as game manager if Makkelie is injured.
The 37-year-old Frenchwoman is the only female Euro referee. She is the first to officiate for a men's championship.
Stéphanie Frappart had already marked European refereeing by becoming the first woman to lead a men's Champions League match. It was Juventus-Kiev, in December 2020
